Aiello's Long Haired Dachshunds

    1) Dewclaws removed.

    2) Come with their 1st set of shots from the vet, and vet  the paperwork.

    3) Worm preventive at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. We use Nemex 2 wormer, recommended by our vet.

    4) You will receive updated photo's of your new baby as I take them (email only, and I try to take them
weekly and send in a zip file).

    5) Health & Adoption Guarantee ( click link to view please)

    6) A starter puppy pack with a sample of puppy food. (if changing to a new brand, slowly wean over
mixing the new with what they come with to prevent tummy upsets, like Diarrhea).

    7) AKC paperwork (limited or full as per agreement). We encourage you to send the paperwork in and
register your new puppy once you've decided on a name.

    8) A generated pedigree of your puppy. (This is not an official AKC pedigree, you must still register your
pup. Your pup is registered as a *litter* and still needs to have their individual paperwork done).

    9) A small throw blanket. (that's been rubbed all over mom and siblings for that *home smell* to help with
    adjustments to it's new home).

    10) A puppy that is socialized, happy, and healthy. Any known health issues will be fully disclosed.
What we do before the pup leaves us:
They receive their first shots at 6 weeks old, so  they will need their shots again at 10 weeks of age.

Dachshunds are prone to having allergic reactions to their vaccinations.

I contacted my vets office and got his *recipe*, he adds Benadryl in with all their vaccinations.

Puppy injections get 0.12ml Benadryl mixed in with vaccine
Adults get 0.25  Benadryl mixed in with the vaccine.

Every 8 hours after injection for 24 hours only.
Motrin and Benadryl
Puppies = 1/4th teaspoon of each ~ liquid
(yummy children's flavor is best, the benadryl is bitter)

Adults = 1/2 teaspoon of the same routine.

This has worked for my dachshunds, I've never had any with a reaction. Hope it helps for all of you!

If your vet is unwilling to add the Benadryl to the Vaccine, then you may give them Benadryl at home
prior to going to get vaccine/Rabie boosters and follow the after shot routine described above.
It should help prevent a reaction.

Disclaimer: I do not claim this to be a routine veterinary practice. Our vet has found it works well on his patients,
and I am only sharing this to hopefully prevent your baby going through the discomfort and swelling that occurs
with a reaction. Occasionally a reaction can also be life threatening, too much swelling can close off their
windpipe.
Responsibility will be yours if you follow these guidelines. I or my vet will not be held responsible.
